Get ready to face your nightmares! Expect a new mode on festive maps, the Rental Market, temporary items, weapon rebalance, and much more.
Night of Dread
The new mode, Night of Dread, is a round-based 4v4 Team Deathmatch where you need to win 8 rounds to secure victory. Unlike in classic TD, your character won’t be instantly revived after you are killed. So try to play it safe.
Just like in Duel, all players will be given the same loadout each round. A round lasts 60 seconds, and when time runs out, the team with more survivors (or with the most HP if both teams have the same number of survivors) wins. Every enemy will be visible on the radar 30 seconds into the round, which will help you find any opponents who are trying to hide.
And the most exciting thing about the new mode is the additional modifiers. We’ll tell you about them in a bit. But first you should know that hellfire spawns at the site of a character's death and deals damage over time. Think of it this way: every enemy basically throws a Molotov at their feet before they die. Also, dense fog will make it difficult to see on the map.
And here are the special modifiers that add to the atmosphere of horror and constantly change the gameplay. The modifiers change every other round:
Battle Zone: a restricted area appears on the map, and characters constantly take damage outside of this area. Therefore, you'll have to fight inside the zone
Run or Die: at a certain point in the round, characters will start taking damage if they stand still
Zombie Invasion: many zombies who are shown on the radar and look exactly like player characters appear on the map. They don't move, but they can be confused with real players
Don’t Move: at a certain point in the round you’ll hear an audio cue after which you'll start taking damage if you move
The Floor is Lava: some surfaces on the map start dealing damage to you, so you'll have to climb higher to stay safe
Low Gravity: lets you jump higher
Phantom: false sounds and visual effects appear in random places on the map. Will you be able to tell reality from hallucinations?
Portals: linked portals appear in certain places on the map, allowing you to instantly move from one location to another
Vampirism: your current and maximum health increases by 50 after each kill
Clear Vision: you can take a break this round, because the fog won't be as strong as usual. This modifier has no additional effects
The following temporary festive maps are available for the Night of Dread mode: Scary Yards (Sand Yards), Arena of Horror (Arena), and Misty Village (Village).
Temporary Items
We’ve added temporary items into the game. They have a special timer that shows how much time you get to keep them for. When the timer expires, the item will disappear from your inventory.
You can use temporary items just like regular ones: equip them and use them in matches. A temporary skin and a regular one will look exactly the same in a match. The only difference between them is that temporary items can’t be sold on the Marketplace.
At the moment, you can get temporary items on the Rental Market, or by using promo codes that we share on our social media.
Rental Market
The Rental Market will let you rent or rent out skins. This Market works in the same way as the regular Marketplace. The players set prices themselves and influence the dynamics of the market. The currency on the Rental Market is Gold.
You can choose an item and send rent or rent out requests. Please note that the rental period will start as soon as a request has been fulfilled, and the timer will start ticking. In other words, as soon as the rented item is added to your inventory, the countdown begins.
You can rent knives, gloves, and skins of Rare quality and above.
As of now, the base rental period is 7 days. You can’t change that just yet. All items will be rented or rented out for a week by default. As soon as the rental period comes to an end, the rented item returns to the owner’s inventory. While the item is rented out, its owner can’t use it.
Stickers and charms remain on the skins, and the StatTrack value is reset to zero when an item is rented out. However, when the owner gets their item back, its stats will be restored to the previous values. The player who’s renting your skin won’t impact your StatTrack values, and they won’t be able to show off your stats in a match.
The Rental Market is a temporary event in the game. So, use this opportunity and try out everything you’ve been dreaming of for a long time. At the end of the event, active requests won't be canceled immediately, but all items will return to your inventory within a short period of time.
If this system proves useful, it may return to the game in future updates — after a few tweaks based on your suggestions!
Changed weapon balance
Nightmare is the first non-seasonal update in which we've tweaked the weapon balance. We decided to make some changes that'll weaken shotguns and scoped assault rifles, as these guns dominate high ranks and pro games. They’re often the universal solution in any situation, so we're lowering some of the characteristics to balance out the weapons.

Battle Pass
Introducing a themed horror-style collection! The event Battle Pass has 4 levels, and it’ll last for 6 weeks. During this time, you’ll be able to add stylish and unusual skins, charms, stickers, and graffiti to your inventory.
The biggest rewards of the Battle Pass are the 6 knives: Karambit, Sting, Butterfly, Kukri, jKommando, and Dual Daggers.
Just like in the previous updates, you’ll find all the items from the Battle Pass in containers that can be opened or sold on the Marketplace later. However, this time you can’t purchase the Gold Pass for Gold.
This system was introduced in the previous round of event and seasonal passes for testing purposes. For now, we’ll be analyzing this format. We’ll consider all the advantages and disadvantages, and possibly bring this feature back in the future. The prior format of purchasing the Battle Pass will return in the future updates.
Updated Crafting
Now you can craft items from the Origin and Rival collections! According to the new crafting rules, the crafted item will belong to one of the collections that you’ve used when crafting a skin.
For example, you’ve decided to create a Rare skin. You’ve combined 6 Uncommon skins from the Revenge collection, 3 from Rival, and 1 from Origin. As a result, you’re going to get a skin from one of these three collections.
